KIM FARRANT

Kim Farrant, an Australian director based in LA, is celebrated for her raw and authentic storytelling.

Currently in pre-production for her upcoming feature film, Kim will teach this immersive and life-changing masterclass for the first time in Europe.

Kim’s latest psychological thriller THE WEEKEND AWAY, starring Leighton Meester and Ziad Bakri, was the number 1 streamed film worldwide on Netflix for its first ten days with 150 million viewers worldwide.

Kim’s other films include STRANGERLAND (Sundance Grand Jury prize nominee) starring Nicole Kidman, Joseph Fiennes and Hugo Weaving, and her psychological thriller ANGLE OF MINE with Noomi Rapace, Yvonne Strahovski, Luke Evans and Richard Roxburgh.

Raw Truth in Performance

Raw Truth is an advanced masterclass for professional actors and directors taught by Australian film director and acting coach Kim Farrant.

Truthful acting is what makes a performance stab you in the heart, blindside you or expand your mind beyond its limitations. Raw truth is an actor’s and director’s greatest pursuit.

For actors, the masterclass reveals where you are emotionally blocked and gives you the tools to access deeper parts of yourself in service of character.

3-DAY ACTING MASTERCLASS

The masterclass includes

  • Scene Work

  • Detailed Script Analysis

  • How to give greater meaning and visceral relationships to Objects; People, Places, Issues, Events and Time Frames

  • How to find the Subtext in a scene and differentiate with Inner Monologue

  • Unique Effective Tools on how to move through historical emotional blocks that prevent you from accessing all of your emotional and physical instrument in service of character

  • Techniques to further find the depth and breadth, and masculine and feminine qualities in your characters.

  • How to embody a character from a place of truth and safety.

Who should apply?

  • This is an advanced masterclass for actors and directors with industry experience or professional training.

    All actors and directors perform a scene in the masterclass - not to create perfect scenes but to flush up your blocks so we can help clear them.

    English language fluency is required. Scenes may be performed in German with prior approval.

    The masterclass will run from 9am-9pm each day with lunch and dinner breaks. It is advised to keep these days completely free of other commitments and a day to integrate after completion.

  • Auditors partake in all group exercises but do not perform any scene work.

Cost & Payment

Actors/Directors: €1.100 for 3 full days

Auditors: €570 for 3 full days

Upon application, a deposit of €300 is payable immediately to reserve your place. If you are not accepted into the course, the deposit will be refunded.

Upon acceptance into the course (after interview) this deposit is non-refundable. The full course fee must be settled by the commencement of the course.

Scenes for participating actors & directors

Scenes and scene partners will be allocated after the deposit of €300 is received.

You must rehearse with your scene partner at least three times prior to the commencement of the masterclass.

If you wish to perform your scene in German, you must make this known to Kim in the interview. Actors are responsible for the translation of their scenes into German.

How to apply?

ACTORS & DIRECTORS

Actors and directors will take part in scene work.

Submit a completed application form with a showreel link (or self-tape of a scene), headshot and bio. From this information Kim will select who is eligible for the class.

AUDITORS

All auditors participate in group exercises but do not take part in scene work.

Submit a completed application form, a headshot and bio (no need for showreel or tape).

INTERVIEW

A brief individual interview with Kim will take place on zoom for all participants before acceptance into the course.
