Synopsis
Aotearoa, New Zealand. Alice and her beloved dog, Moss, spend their days in an isolated coastal house. But when inexplicable and terrifying events unfold, their peace is disturbed. Then, Moss disappears - leaving Alice distraught. After a terrifying night, Alice tries to reach out for help, but falters. As a storm rages, Alice hears something in her basement and is forced to face her fears.
Director’s Bio
Miryam Jacobi is a filmmaker based in Aotearoa, New Zealand. A multi-genre director, Miryam's work challenges traditional cinematic tropes while unpacking the complexities of female identity. As a trained actor, her work is grounded in nuanced performances. Her films have screened at Show Me Shorts, Galway Film Fleadh, Vail Film Festival, Melbourne Women in Film Festival, Down Under Berlin Film Festival and more.
Miryam trained at Toi Whakaari; NZ Drama School, graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor of Performing Arts. Highlights of her career include directing a tourism campaign for WellingtonNZ starring Karen O’Leary (WELLINGTON PARANORMAL), second unit directing for Amazon’s DON’T MAKE ME GO starring John Cho and creating critically-acclaimed documentary DISORDER.
In 2017, Miryam co-founded production company 2113 - working across the commercial and indie spaces, producing music videos for NZ artists such as LEN BLAKE, DICK MOVE, DIGGY DUPE and ISRAEL STARR. Miryam has produced and directed commercial content for clients such as Air New Zealand, Fieldays, MediaWorks, Auckland Arts Festival, Look Good Feel Better NZ, Sir John Kirwan Foundation and more.
