The 2024 Down Under Berlin Film Festival was a landmark year, expanding its reach and impact while continuing to champion stories from Australia and New Zealand. Hosted once again at in Berlin at Moviemento Kino, with the addition of CityKino Wedding, the festival brought a diverse lineup of films to Berlin audiences, celebrating bold storytelling and unique perspectives from our region.

This year also marked the launch of DUFF Copenhagen at Cinemateket, the Danish Film Institute’s prestigious headquarters. The expansion into Denmark further solidified the festival’s mission to introduce European audiences to the vibrant, diverse, and often underrepresented voices of Australian and New Zealand cinema.

With the invaluable support of DFAT’s Australian Cultural Diplomacy Grants Program and our major partner, Adina Hotels Europe, DUFF 2024 successfully broadened its programming, increased audience engagement, and strengthened connections between filmmakers and industry professionals. From award-winning features and thought-provoking documentaries to groundbreaking First Nations stories, the festival highlighted the depth and breadth of our region’s screen talent.
